Energy audit is a detailed analysis of the energy consumption of a building, business or process. Its purpose is to identify ways of improving energy efficiency and to estimate the savings resulting from the proposed measures. The audit includes an assessment of the technical condition of the building or installation, an analysis of heat losses, an evaluation of the technical parameters of the heating, ventilation and lighting systems and the identification of optimal modernisation measures.
In Poland, an energy audit is required in various situations. Among others, when applying for funding for thermo-modernisation of buildings as part of certain government programmes. It also forms the basis for a mandatory company energy audit for large companies under the Energy Efficiency Act. The results of the audit are presented in the form of a report containing recommendations for modernisation measures, their costs and potential energy savings.
