Sound insulation is the set of material and construction solutions designed to reduce the transmission of sound between rooms and from the outside to the inside of a building. It includes protection against both airborne noise (e.g. conversation, music, traffic noise) and impact noise (footsteps, impacts, vibrations).
Mineral wool, plasterboard or damping mats, among others, are used for acoustic insulation. Special design solutions are also used, such as double walls, floating floors or false ceilings.
The effectiveness of sound insulation depends on the materials usedThe thickness of the insulation, its airtightness and the way it is installed. Well-designed insulation improves living comfort, increases the sense of privacy and protects the health of occupants from long-term noise exposure.
In modern residential and office construction, sound insulation is one of the key quality parameters. An additional advantage of some solutions is that, in addition to sound attenuation, they can also act as thermal insulation.
