Building acoustics

Building acoustics refers to the sound propagation, damping and insulation properties of a building. It encompasses both protection from external noise (e.g. street noise) and ensuring acoustic comfort indoors. Well-designed acoustics include the use of appropriate insulation materials, the layout of partition walls and the elimination of sound bridges.

Today's regulations set minimum requirements for the sound insulation of walls and ceilings. In detached houses, it is important, among other things, to protect bedrooms from noise from the bathroom, boiler room or garage. Building acoustics affects the living comfort, privacy and functionality of the space, and improvements can include the use of sound-absorbing panels, carpets or suspended ceilings.
