Thermal bridge analysis

Thermal bridge analysis is the process of assessing points in the building envelope (e.g. in walls, corners, roof/ceiling junctions or at window reveals) where increased heat transmission occurs. The aim of the analysis is to identify points where the structure loses thermal insulation, leading to localised cooling, condensation and dampness. W frame construction The analysis of thermal bridges includes, among other things:

  • joints between the timber studs and the sheathing panels,
  • module contact areas,
  • structural punctures (e.g. screws, anchors),
  • fragments at windows, doors and corners.

The results of the analysis are used to optimise the insulation layout and select materials with low λ. They are also helpful in designing the continuity of thermal insulation layers in prefabricated modules.
