Roof pitch is a measure of the angle at which the roof slope is inclined relative to the horizontal. It is usually expressed in degrees (°), less commonly in percent. It has a direct impact on the appearance of the building, its functionality and the type of roofing that can be used.
In single-family housing, typical roof pitches range from 10° to 45°, with:
- Flat roofs have a slope of up to approx. 10°,
- pitched roofs mostly 25-40°,
- The steep roofs of regional houses may exceed 45°.
Selection of the angle of inclination roof takes into account climatic conditions (e.g. snowfall), aesthetic requirements as well as local planning regulations. The angle also influences the adaptability of the attic for use and the way the roof trusses and trusses are constructed.
