Geotextile

Geotextile is a synthetic fibre material used in construction as a separation, filtering, reinforcement or drainage layer. It is most commonly made from polypropylene or polyester. Due to its structure, it allows water to pass through while retaining solid particles, which prevents siltation of gravel layers and drainage systems.

Geotextile is used, among other things, in the construction of foundations, roads, terraces, drainage systems and also under the foundation slabs and sub-base for paving stones. This material increases durability of the structure, improves soil stability and reduces erosion. A well-chosen geotextile minimises the risk of ground deformation and moisture penetration into the structural layers of the building.
