The storied house is a residential building consisting of a ground floor and at least one full storey above ground, i.e. a first floor, which has a standard room height and full-length walls. A storey house may additionally have a usable attic, where the room heights and sloping ceilings are dependent on the roof construction.
Thanks to the presence of a full storey above the ground floor, storey houses allow for more living space on a relatively small plot, making them a popular solution in areas with limited space. The storey layout also facilitates the functional division of space, such as a living zone on the ground floor and a night zone on the ground floor.
