HDF board is a High Density Fibreboard made from wood fibres compressed under high pressure and at high temperature. It is characterised by its very high hardness, smooth surface and homogeneous structure. This makes it well suited for precision machining and coating with laminates, veneers or lacquers.
The standard thickness of HDF boards typically ranges from 2 to 8 mm, making them thinner than the more common MDF boards. Due to its properties, HDF mainly used in furniture and interior designThey can be used, among other things, as backs of furniture, drawer bottoms, door components and also as underlays for floor panels. Their advantages include resistance to mechanical damage, dimensional stability and ease of surface finishing.
In modern construction, they are also used as a structural element in drywall systems or in the production of decorative panels.
