non-functional attic

Non-use loft

Non-use loft is the space located directly under the roof of a building that has not been adapted for residential or commercial use. It usually has a storage role, serving to store less frequently used items such as old furniture, seasonal equipment or building materials. Non-use attics are typically unfinished, with the roof structure visible and no thermal insulation or interior finishes.

Too low an attic height, lack of insulation and adequate communication (e.g. a comfortable staircase that replaces an attic staircase with a hatch) make these types of attics limited in their use. However, their adaptation to usable space is often possible - after appropriate building work has been carried out.
