Open shell

Open shell

Open shell is the stage of construction when the building structure is already erected, but not enclosed or finished. It includes completed foundations, load-bearing walls, ceilings, chimneys and roof trusses (often with roofing, although this may be temporary). In this state, the building does not yet have windows, doors and other closures installed. The building remains exposed to the weather because it is not sealed.
