Hybrid house

Hybrid house

Hybrid house is a residential building in which different construction and installation technologies are combined. This combination aims to achieve better performance and energy efficiency.

A hybrid house usually juxtaposes traditional masonry walls with prefabricated elements or timber construction. This makes use of both the durability of heavy materials and the lightness and speed of assembly of frame structures.

The term also includes installations. Hybrid homes often use a combination of classical heat sources (e.g. a gas boiler) and renewable (Heat pump, photovoltaics, recuperation). This increases the energy efficiency of the building, reduces operating costs and better adapts to changing conditions.
