Start bar

Start bar is an assembly element used in the installation of façade materials or thermal insulation systems. Manufacturers usually make the starter strip from aluminium or PVC. It is installed at the bottom of the façade, where it forms the base for fixing the first layer of polystyrene or façade wool. It makes it possible to maintain the correct level and protect the insulation material from mechanical damage and access of moisture from below.

In the case of ETICS-type facade systems (insulation with thin-coat plaster), the starter strip also acts as a spacer, providing a ventilation gap and allowing water to drain freely. Its correct installation is important for the durability and aesthetics of the entire insulation system.
