Barbed plate connectors are connection elements made of steel sheet, equipped with regularly spaced studs (extrusions), used for permanent and precise joining of wooden structural elements. In the manufacture of prefabricated roof trusses, they are most often used to quickly and firmly join the intersections of beams in lattice systems. The joint is pressed into the timber under high pressure from hydraulic presses, which ensures high load-bearing capacity and repeatability of the joints. This type of joint eliminates the need for nails, screws or additional perforated plates, which reduces production time and improves the aesthetics of the component.
Technical standards cover barbed plate connectors, which must meet requirements for strength, corrosion resistance and allowable loads. Their use is standard in the industrial prefabrication of roofs for single-family, commercial and agricultural construction.
