Technical storey is the level of a building dedicated to the equipment and installations necessary for its operation. It is not found in all buildings and appears mainly in buildings with extensive technical infrastructure. On the technical floor are placed, among others:
- air handling units,
- air-conditioning equipment,
- electrical switchgear,
- pumps,
- heating and water system components.
This solution is used when equipment takes up a large space or requires easy service access. Technical floors are usually designed in office buildings, hotels, shopping malls or other large commercial buildings.
The technical storey can be located in the basement, on the roof or between the usable floors. Separating the plant from the usable space facilitates the maintenance of the building and reduces the noise and vibration generated by the equipment. Single-family house project usually provides for the installation to be located in a boiler room, a technical room or in installation shafts.
