Its purpose is to limit the generation of excessive stresses and prevent damage to the structure and finishes. <strong>Construction movements<\/strong> can result from fixed and variable loads. They also result from changes in temperature, shrinkage and creep of materials, ground settlement and differences in the operation of different parts of the building.
