Carbon footprint

Carbon footprint is the total quantity of greenhouse gas emissions. It is expressed in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e), arising directly or indirectly from a human activity, organisation, product or service. It includes emissions associated with production, transport, use and disposal. It takes into account both direct sources (e.g. fuel combustion) and indirect sources (e.g. electricity consumption, supply chain).

The carbon footprint is an important indicator of environmental impact. It forms the basis for developing strategies to reduce emissions, including through energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources and sustainable resource management. In many industries, its monitoring and reduction is required as part of regulations and climate commitments.
